Coat, Bag & Shoe Combos for every Leggy Lovely

Was going to be really thrifty this winter and get last year’s coat re-lined.

Then started writing this post.

Started wondering if I’m a Vintage Vixen, a Parka Princess or a Military Mama.

Came to the conclusion that I’m a bit of all three.

Uh oh.

Vintage Vixen

Tall Coat, Topshop £110/ Bag, ASOS £65/ Shoes (Up to a UK size 9), New Look £9.99

Parka Princess

Tall Jacket, Dorothy Perkins £55/ Bag, ASOS £75/ Trainers (Up to a UK 11), Converse £35

Military Mama

Tall Jacket, Topshop £89/ Bag, ASOS £38 / Boots (Up to a UK 12), Amber & Jade £169

Have you got your long-length winter-coat sorted yet?

I’m also on the hunt for a warm one. Like, toasty warm. So if anyone can recommend a great quality padded/ feather-filled/ faux-fur-trimmed or similarly insulated garment that will keep out the blusterriest of British winds, then please give me a shout!

  1. Hi! I know it’s not the best solution but the US store Eddie Bauer (www.eddiebauer.com) offers lots of tall sizes and has a big range of winter coats AND ships to the UK.

  2. I just got a parka from Primark (green, £26, lined with some sort of white fluff?) and it is so hot I sweat every time I wear it?! Definitely recommend, it’s like a hug in jacket form!

  3. I’ve done my research on warm coats and apparently we need something with 80% down minimum, ideally goose. Most fashion coats have 50% duck down, 50% feather , which aren’t really warm. I went for a Marmot Montreaux, which comes from Colorado USA, but bought from amazon. Under £150 for a goose down coat was a really good price, the sleeves and body are lovely and long, and it’s sooo toasty :-). X

  4. I’m 6″2 and usually can’t find a nice, warm coat with sleeves that are long enough, BUT I had a look at the clothes section in ASDA (George) and found the loveliest padded grey coat with sleeves that are just the right length.

I bought it in mid-October and you can see it in the advert in the top of the page:

  5. My first comment! I love this blog, it makes me feel less of a freak of nature!

I bought a beautiful khaki military coat from M&S last month – £129 but so so worth it: http://www.marksandspencer.com/Autograph-Double-Breasted-Military-Coat/dp/B008NGQRCI?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_8&nodeId=192500031&sr=1-8&qid=1351851441&pf_rd_r=1X3ZM9ZSDFDVA82JH2CR&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=192500031&pf_rd_p=321381387&pf_rd_s=related-items-3
I’m 5’11, so on the shorter side round here, but it fits absolutely perfectly – the sleeves are long enough, the waistline sits where it should and the hem is just below my knee. All I need now is a new pair of boots…

  6. Do you have a spam problem on this blog; I also am a blogger, and I was curious about your situation; we have developed some nice procedures and we are looking to trade methods with others, why not shoot me an e-mail if interested.

  7. “Having read this I thought it was very informative. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to put this write-up together. I once once again discover myself spending way to a lot time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was nonetheless worth it!”
