Winter Casual

Hey Leggy Lovelies,

8 more sleeps til Christmas! I trust you are all on the naughty list ūüėČ

Getting another little person ready (and often, ready again) before leaving the house can mean that I’m lucky if I get to put a bit of slap on or a chance to blast¬†myself with dry shampoo. So usually an easy-to-put-together outfit is in order.

Here’s one I wore earlier…

Cape, Topshop ¬£35: Occasionally I wear this belted too; it’s a great piece to layer over chunky jumpers and cardis as an alternative to a coat.

Jeans: Asos ¬£32. I cannot go on enough about how bloody brilliant ASOS Ridley jeans are. They’re my favourite Tall jeans on the market right now; stretchy but more jean-like than the Topshop Leigh variety. The high waist also puts an end to the builder’s bum issues we all suffer. (Right?)

T-Shirt: Burton ¬£9.60. I’m loving the trend for Chanel-esque black-on-white typography tops and jumpers right now. This is actually a men’s tee from Burton, hence the length. I’m wearing the Large and I’ve layered it over an old ASOS jersey top.

Bag: Primark, ¬£12. I’ve never in my life travelled light, but having a baby has taken the whole handbag-meets-luggage thing to a new level. This snake-effect Primarni number has all the compartments I need for nappies/ muslins, etc.

Boots: Topshop, ¬£45. These are cute black Chelsea boots with a bit of a twist. The leather is also super soft and supple, so expect it to stretch a little — mine did. Available up to a roomy Euro 42.

Glasses by Roxy @ Specsavers and Jewellery from TJC.co.uk

Has anyone purchased a pretty cape? Or found some fab winter boots? I keep getting questions about the knee-length variety (they need to be long in the leg AND in the foot), so it’d be fab if you have any leads…

Wedding Guest Wear at 7 Months Pregnant

Hey Leggy Lovelies,

Hope you’re all wonderfully well.

Last weekend I was hitting the lemonades at my friends’ wedding in Scunthorpe, but not before much deliberation over what to wear.¬†While I’ve not struggled anywhere near as much as I expected in finding long-length maternity wear for day-to-day, I’ve been somewhat underwhelmed by the party and occasion-wear on offer for leggy lovelies sporting a bump.

Maternity occasion-wear in general is akin to specialist tall wear; it tends to err on the safe side of fashion, presumably to appeal to everyone, and therefore likely appealing to almost no one. Most dresses contain cheap fabrics or oddly placed lace, and are usually wildly over-priced in comparison with their bumpless counterparts.

A lot of the ASOS maternity dresses look like they’d be total bum-flashers on me, but I did find¬†this sparkly chiffon number¬†there, and at ¬£60, it was even less expensive than a lot of non-maternity¬†options. I’m sure I’ll wear it to another party before Baby Schof arrives too.

I wore it to the wedding of my lovely friends Jen and Mark, who I introduced 6 and half years ago. (I spent most of the day feeling like a very smug cupid). My hubby Tim conducted the ceremony in the beautiful grounds of Jen’s parents’ home and made a very dashing¬†vicar indeed.

I colour-blocked with some teal shoes (oldies from Dorothy Perkins), a teal bag (found in the sale last week at John Lewis, £25), and a hat-inator from KCMode. You can find the ASOS dress here.

Have you found any wedding guest outfits recently that would work for leggy lovelies (with or without a bump?). Please share your sources below! And if you do know of any maternity lines that make pretty ocassion-wear for tall mamas, please pop those in too ūüôā

A Strapping Bag

If you’re over 5’10, you’ll know that your height-related dilemmas extend further than too-tight shoes and ankle swinging trousers.¬†Over the years on ATTT we’ve looked at wetsuits with give, prams with higher handles, and how to bag yourself some extra legroom on an aeroplane.

As a six-footer, one thing that I often struggle with (and get emails or comments about) is the cross-body bag. Most bags, even when stretched to as far as the strap will allow, will only fall as far as the waist and sit awkwardly above my hip.

This little green number from New Look¬†(¬£15.99) has plenty of strap and comes in three different colour-ways. There’s even an extra 3 inches available that I haven’t utilised. I know… wowzers.

Furthermore, it’s a lot more practical than some of the miniature-sized satchels of other stores, so it makes a great all-day handbag.

You can now hover over the image for links to products. The shirt I’m wearing is a size Large and the skirt is a size 12.

Anyone else found any pretty cross-body bags on the highstreet that work with your measurements?

One M&S Dress and the Clutch that EVERY Tall girl needs

I clapped eyes on this ASOS clutch and knew I¬†had¬†to have it. Not only is it in the oh-so-appropriate giraffe print (if you can’t dodge the comparisons, you might as well embrace them), but it’s also got a lovely, luxe pony-effect finish.

Bag, ASOS £30/ Dress, Marks & Spencer £23/ Boots, Topshop/ Necklace, New Look £17.99/ Hat, Miss Selfridge/ Glasses, Specsavers

I’m often getting requests to feature long-line skater-style dresses, and this Marks & Spencer number¬†is great for a tall figure, because even though it’s fitted at the top with a nice flare at the hem, it doesn’t have a defined waistline, making it more accessible for the leggier lovely. Plus it’s currently on sale for a purse-pleasing ¬£23.

Also… make sure you keep your eyes firmly fixed on the blog over the next few days, because yesterday I interviewed a certain Gokalicious fashion expert, and he had a LOT to say on the subject of tall women.

Have a lovely Friday folks,

P.S. Anyone else found a nice long-length skater frock? I’m currently obsessed.

The ASOS Tall Scuba Skirt

The lovely people at ASOS may not have¬†officially¬†launched their Tall range just yet, but they sure are teasing us with some fab preliminary pieces. This¬†black scuba midi skirt¬†caught my eye, and is so perfect in length that I’m¬†very¬†tempted for the red one now too.

My midriff is currently in no fit state for public consumption, but it’s possible to work the crop-top trend without baring the wine belly. This dotty ASOS number sits elegantly over the top of the¬†skirt, and you’ll only catch a hint of my upper-tum (the OK bit) in a very sharp breeze.¬†

dots3

I’ve gone for full-on sparkle in my accessories; a sparkly perspex Coast Cuff (a bit pricey at ¬£35 for bling-bling costume jewellery, but I’ve wanted it for ages and finally gave in this week), a bib style necklace and my silver Next courts (available up to a Euro 43).¬†I picked up my long-line blazer from a random boutique in Hong Kong, but you don’t really need that for party time anyway.

What would you style this scuba skirt with? And have you made any ASOS Tall purchases yet? What’s your verdict?

The New Look Waterfall Jacket

Since its relaunch last year, I’ve been a smidge underwhelmed by New Look’s Tall range offerings. But this season, lurking between the basic tees, seemingly¬†endless¬†cardigans (what is that about?) and skinny jeans, are some¬†proper¬†gems.

This Waterfall jacket with leather-look sleeves looks more Zara than New Look, and much prettier than the £34.99 price tag gives credit for.

I’ve styled it up with jeans for a night out at Dirty Dancing with the girls, and added a¬†bright floral clutch and big statement necklace¬†(also New Look bargains with a bit of a Zara flavour).

The fluttery front adds interest and breaks up a long torso, and while some waterfall-style blazers are cut too short at the back for us leggy lovelies, this one is perfectly proportioned for a Tall figure, just skimming over the top of my bottom.

Tall Waterfall Blazer, £34.99/ Clutch Bag, £15.99 / Necklace, £17.99 (all New Look)

Jeans, Gap/Top, Topshop/ Shoes, Barratts (All oldies)

What are your favourite picks in New Look’s Tall range? Has anyone had any success there recently?

Cheap and Cheerful

Hey leggy lovelies,

The Nine West competition closes at midnight tonight, so make sure you get your entry in! One of you lovely lot is going to win yourself a ¬£100 voucher. I have been absolutely blown away by the honesty and heart-felt words in the entries received so far, and I’ve had a good old knowing chuckle at some of your memories of being the “awkward one”. Well worth a read if you haven’t had a look already… some might even make you weep a happy tear.

What with it being June and all, the sun was almost kind enough to shine in London yesterday. Which was enough of an excuse for wine outside the Charlotte Street Hotel with the girls and a summery outfit.

I’m definitely feeling the post-holiday, pre-tax bill pinch, so these recent buys are seriously¬†bargainous. The whole outfit below cost ¬£60 (although I did cheat by paying Vietnamese prices on the shoes).

a1

Pretty laser cut details are all over bags at the moment, and I spied this seriously bold pink number whilst doing my trolley dash in Sainsburys. (If you forgo the brand names in the condiments aisle and buy economy loo roll, you can totally justify the £20 spend).

a5

New Look’s 3-pack of Tall T-shirts is well worth the investment. Although they’re not quite as long as the “super vest” in Miss Selfridge, They work out at just over 4 quid each and you can dress them up with statement necklaces, like this bright blue one. I’ve tucked mine into this floral New Look skirt (it’s not from the Tall range but the proportions looked reasonable on the website so I gambled).

a4

I had these leather sandals custom-made to wear with my maxi dresses and I love them, even if my toe is doing a “Julianne Moore” in the picture above. They’re a bit like my Henry Holland ones I featured ages ago that sadly died a death after getting caught in a pavement slab. Sigh.

a3

Tall Top, New Look £12.99 for 3 pack/ Skirt, New Look £16.99/ Tall Biker Jacket, Topshop £58/ Necklace, New Look £9.99/ Bag, Sainsburys £20/ Shoes, Custom-made in Vietnam £10

What do you think? And would you like to see some more budget-friendly pieces on the blog or is it leggy luxury you’re after?

Win a £100 voucher to spend at Nine West

Long time readers of the blog will remember me getting just a tad¬†excited about buying a pair¬†of buttery-soft leather boots from Nine West back in 2011. Well, the boots are still going strong, and so is Nine West’s range of size nine shoes: it currently consists of 83 pairs in a UK size 9.

shoes nine west size 9

Now Nine West has teamed up with All the Tall things to give one lucky UK or Ireland based reader a ¬£100 voucher to spend online, with free delivery. And since we wouldn’t want to leave out those leggy lovelies whose feet are bigger than a size 9, the voucher can be spent on any of Nine West’s fabulous bags or accessories too. Hurrah.

Nine West

I road-tested its best-selling Flax pair of courts (£95). Fortunately for me, they come up in a generous size 9 (think Next rather than Topshop), and the cushioned sole kept my feet feeling supported and comfy; qualities that are often lacking in cheaply made courts.

shoes with dress

Top: Embellished blouse, Mango £34.99/ Black shift dress, Long Tall Sally £75 / Bag, Zara £49.99/ Shoes, Nine West £95. Bottom: Red jacket, Miss Selfridge/ Blouse, H+M/ Necklace, Vietnam/ Jeans, Topshop £40/ Shoes, Nine West £95

These courts are ideal for the office but are built for walking and dancing too, with a sturdy heel, soft leather, and no pinching at the sides or the opening. It’s only in my late twenties that I’m starting to realise a little extra investment in quality shoes goes a very long way.

If you’d like to be in with a chance of winning the voucher, answer this question in the comments section below this post.

Birthday Lunch

If there’s ever a time when you can eat yourself senseless, it’s your birthday (or Christmas, or a hangover day, or a Tuesday…). I turned 28 today, so I went out for a lovely lunch with the mother to celebrate.

As well as taking me out for some insanely yum grub (I recommend The Canopy in Epsom… have the duck), Mum also played photographer this morning and snapped me in her garden using my snazzy new birthday camera from the hubby.

I have a couple of new pieces to share with you, like this lovely knee-length pencil skirt from ASOS. I love the current trend for all things monochrome and geometric, and this one, with its on trend front-split (“No Mum, I know how to put my clothes on, I’m 28… it’s supposed to look like that…”) is perfect for leggy lovelies.¬†

I’ve added an old Mango blouse and Next jacket, and accessorised with my new ASOS clutch bag.

Top, Mango/ Jacket, Next/ Skirt, ASOS ¬£32/ Bag, ASOS ¬£35/ Boots, Topshop (Up to a Euro 42 — a LARGE 42), ¬£45

Now I need to decide what to wear for birthday drinks tomorrow night. Any ideas??

Christmas Drinks

Work drinks, girly drinks, Christmas Eve drinks in your local pub with¬†everyone¬†you went to school with. You need a few new outfits, but your credit card balance is already higher than the phone bill at Christopher Maloney’s nan’s house.

Thankfully you can add a bit of sparkle to your basics with Topshop’s Tall Stud Tube Skirt.

Top: Blazer, Topshop £65/ Top, Topshop £12/ Skirt, Topshop £40

Bottom: Necklace, ASOS £25/ Bag Love Moschino @ ASOS £160/ Shoes, Barefoot Tess (Up to a US size 14) £74.99

Anyone else found any pretty separates (skirts/ tops/ jackets?) that will glam up our weary wardrobes for December?
